Dr. Joanna Talewicz is a cultural anthropologist and expert in minority rights, diversity, and inclusion, with a particular focus on the Roma community. She is the co-founder and president of the Foundation Towards Dialogue. She is a recipient of the Olga Kersten-Matwin Award and the No-Indifference Award and was nominated by the U.S. Embassy in Poland for the Secretary of State Antony Blinken Award for Global Anti-Racism Champions. She is an alumna of the Leadership Academy for Poland, the Fulbright Program, Columbia University and the International Leadership Visitor Program. In 2024, she was selected for the prestigious Obama Foundation Leaders Europe program. She is a member of the Democracy & Belonging Forum at UC Berkeley’s Othering & Belonging Institute, the International Council of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe (IDM), and the Polish delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA). Dr. Talewicz has been a guest lecturer at universities including Harvard, NYU, Columbia, Rutgers, Roma Tre, and the University of Helsinki.She is the author and editor of numerous works on human rights and Roma issues.
