The Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion
Agata Chomiczewska is a Doctor Habilitatus in Physical Sciences and a professor at the Institute of Plasma Physics and Laser Microfusion (IPPLM) in Warsaw, where she heads the Department of Thermonuclear Plasma Research and the Plasma Spectroscopy Laboratory.
She graduated from the University of Warsaw and has been with IPPLM since 2005. She obtained her PhD in 2012 and habilitation in 2020. Since 2016, she has served as the national coordinator for research on experimental nuclear fusion devices (tokamaks) located in the UK, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Japan. As of 2024, she is also a member of the Physics Project Board under the EUROfusion consortium.
Her research focuses on nuclear fusion, especially plasma impurity studies using spectroscopic methods in magnetically confined plasmas. She has authored or co-authored over 200 scientific papers and actively supports international conferences and science outreach. She is part of the team that set a global energy record on the JET tokamak in the UK."
